Early Help
Level One – Safeguarding for all
This support is available for all children in the academy
Nurture Lunch Support
If your child needs extra support at lunchtimes, we can offer a variety of games and clubs to support this. This can be for those pupils who prefer quiet time or find social situations difficult. The children can gain new friendships which helps them build their confidence and resilience.
PSHE Jigsaw Programme
A new curriculum for PSHE has been developed by the department for education and has been introduced at TGPAMV in September 2020. PSHE will focus around 6 core themes that re-occur each year:
- Being Me in My World
- Celebrating Difference
- Dreams and Goals
- Healthy Me
- Relationships
- Changing Me
We want our students to be happy, healthy and well-rounded and the changes to PSHE will support them on this journey.
For more information, please contact: Miss Stephanie Wright – PSHE Lead.
Working with Parents
We value the input and feedback of all parents and strive to develop strong links. The academy has a ‘working with parents forum’ and is looking at bespoke ways to hear the voice of families from all social-economic backgrounds. It is vital that all parents feel empowered to have their say and work with the academy to build strong relationships for the students.
Class Teacher Support
The class teacher is an essential link between school and home, and often the first port of call if a pupil or parent/carer has a query or concern. Teachers will support pupils with any home learning, uniform, organisation, equipment and can provide emotional support to the child or family if they ever feel worried or overwhelmed.
Level Two – Early Help
This support is accessed via our internal referral system
THRIVE
Thrive helps us to check children’s readiness to learn, to identify any gaps and then plan to meet them. Through doing so, we will be able to make sure that all of our pupils have what they need to make the best possible progress in their learning
What does it take to develop healthy, happy, confident children who are ready and open to learning? Recent advances in neuroscience, attachment theory and child development have provided some of the answers to this question.
The Thrive Approach draws on insights from these fields to provide a powerful way of working with children and young people that supports optimal social and emotional development. In addition, the Approach can equip you to work in a targeted way with children and young people who may have struggled with difficult life events to help them re-engage with life and learning.
SEND Support
Our objective is to support and equip pupils with additional needs to fulfil their academic and personal potential, ensuring they are given equal opportunities, enabling and encouraging them to feel valued members of the Tudor Grange Primary Academy Haselor Community. Our aim is to ensure not only academic progress for all our students, but also to support their social and emotional well-being.
We encourage parents of ASD children to seek help through the following websites:
https://www.autismlinks.co.uk/ https://www.aspie.org.uk/
Any parents that have children that may be suffering with their mental health are advised to also gain advice from the following website:
Our school has access to a SEND Specialist Teacher, Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Child and Adolescence Mental Health Specialist and Hearing Specialists. We have an excellent relationship with these external agencies and work in close collaboration to ensure there is a successful team around the child.
Mental Health Lead
At Haselor, within our staff team we have adults trained to support pupils and staff with mental health needs. Miss Rhone (Class Teacher and SENDco) is our Mental Health First Aider and Amy Bagnall (Teaching Assistant) is our Lead Thrive Practitioner.
Some of our pupils may need extra support during unstructured times and at different stages of their time in school due to circumstances in their own individual lives. The Hub now provides a familiar base which is a safe haven for some of our more vulnerable students and our staff show great commitment in helping those often vulnerable pupils achieve and grow in character.
Our aim is to care, protect and encourage all of our students to reach their full potential.
Level Three – External Support and Children’s Services
This support is accessed via a referral to external agencies
Early Help Family Support

- mental health problems
- domestic abuse at home
- drug or alcohol dependency
- your child starting school
- struggling as a lone parent

Educational Psychologist and SEND Specialist Teachers
We share an Educational Psychologist and SEND Specialist Teachers with other Tudor Grange Primary Schools. They will come and observe the pupil in school and discuss concerns with staff, parents and the pupil (where appropriate). They will then share strategies of support with staff and parents in order for them to implement in their day-to-day practice.
CAMHS
CAMHS is used as a term for all services that work with children and young people who have difficulties with their emotional or behavioural wellbeing.
Local areas have a number of different support services available.
These might be from the statutory, voluntary or school-based sector, such as an NHS trust, local authority, school or charitable organisation.
